L'exposition comprendra plus de 120 œuvres d'artistes de premier plan, certains bien connus, d'autres faisant leurs débuts ici. L'exposition "Imagination matérielle" s'écarte de l'histoire de l'art israélien en tant que récit chronologique parallèle à l'histoire nationale. L'imagination matérielle est un modèle de pensée conçu par le philosophe Gaston Bachelard au cours d'années d'étude des quatre éléments - la terre, l'air, l'eau et le feu - et de leurs incarnations dans l'imagination et dans l'art. L'imagination matérielle s'épanouit dans le dialogue entre les matériaux du monde et les images archaïques, archétypes accumulés et gravés dans la conscience humaine.

The exhibition will include more than 120 works by leading artists, some well-known, others making their debut here. The exhibition Material Imagination departs from the story of Israeli art as a chronological narrative running parallel to the national story. Material Imagination is a model of thinking conceived by philosopher Gaston Bachelard during years of delving into the four elements—earth, air, water, and fire—and their incarnations in the imagination and in art. The material imagination thrives in the dialogue between the materials of the world and archaic images—archetypes accumulated and etched in human consciousness.
